Exeter Area GFWC donates
Automated External Defibrillator for Coop Middle School
The Exeter Area GFWC (formerly the Exeter Area Junior Women's
Club), as part of their Community Improvement Program, recently
purchased an Automated External Defibrillator for the Cooperative
Middle School. School nurse, Jane LaBelle, accepts a check from
Mary Vahey-Gager, club co-president. Martha LaPerle and Linda
Raye, CMS Health office, look on.

Sandi Jones, GFWC Leadership Chairman,
Gail LeShane, GFWC-NH President, Senator John Sununu, Carol Waters,
GFWC NH JR Director Elect and GFWC-NH PR Chairman, and Arlene
Creeden, GFWC-NH Junior Director.
NEW HAMPSHIRE, November
2003, four members of GFWC-NH returned from a four day orientation
meeting of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) in
Washington D.C. Mrs. Sandi Jones of Concord is currently serving as
national leadership Chairman. Mrs. Jones is running for First Vice
President. Mrs. Gail LeShane of Nashua will serve as President of
GFWC-NH; Carol Waters of Exeter will be Director of Junior Clubs in
NH. Arlene Creeden, of Hudson current Junior Director of NH will be
serving on the GFWC Resolutions Committee. The four women will serve
in the 2003-2006 Administration.
GFWC-President –Elect
Mrs. Ernie Shriner told the 175 clubwomen present that the 2003-2006
President’s Special Project would focus on literacy. It is called
“GFWC Literacy Program: Tutoring from the Heart,” it’s goal is to
train 7,500 new literacy tutors and tutor 10,000 students during the
2 year period of the administration. Mrs. Shriner said that during
the coming administration there also will be special emphasis on
programs to promote an understanding among club and community
members of the United Children’s Fund (UNICEF) organizational
priorities. “In addition, we will look at women’s health issues,
working to heighten awareness in our communities of the most
prevalent medical problems affecting women today and the importance
of maintaining a balanced lifestyle,” she said.
Mrs. Jones, Mrs. LeShane,
Mrs. Waters, and Mrs. Creeden visited Capital Hill where they met
with Senator John Sununu and John McHugh, Legislative aide to
Senator Judd Gregg to discuss bills regarding Highway Safety and
Elder Justice. They also attended several sessions designed to
acquaint them with GFWC’s Departments, materials, and reporting
process for the new administration, which will commence in late
June.
